My Secret Life as a Docent

Much as I find school psychology challenging and rewarding, there comes a time for other joys; real life, I think they call it. One of my hobbies stems from the physical heritage of Los Angeles.

The sunshine and open spaces inspired the motion picture industry and two great architectural movements, Arts and Crafts, and (my favorite) the mid-century Moderns. Visitors to Los Angeles can tap a wonderful resource by exploring our design treats through the Los Angeles Conservancy. I enjoyed its walking tours and open houses so much that I decided to join the club of people who give up their time so others can have a richer experience. I became a docent.
