Response Following Shootings on School Campuses

Two tragic school shootings occurred near San Diego, California, a few miles and a few weeks apart. First, on March 5, at 9:20 am, a 15-year-old Santana High School freshman, armed with a 22-caliber revolver, fired more than 30 bullets at fellow students. This attack left two students dead and 13 wounded. Then on March 21, at 1:55 pm, an 18-year-old senior at Granite Hills High School, armed with a shotgun and a pistol, fired seven shots, injuring four students and one teacher before he himself was wounded by an armed school resource officer.
