California Association of School Psychologists

Convention 2009 Photos

CASP’s 60th Annual Convention: Advancing into the Future proved to be the year of the student. A special room for papers and panels was student-run, and students met with practitioners over pizza and beverages to talk about life on the job. A new Student Leadership Council was created with a look toward keeping student members once they join the profession.

More discussions at the Student/Practitioner Pizza Party. Former CASP President Pauline Theodore is in the center of the photo.

Students helped the National Association of School Psychologists with its booth. Most of these students are from Riverside-area universities.

Students also lent their support to the “For the Children” Political Action Committee by participating in the Auction and Wine/Beer tasting event.

Students shared their research with many paper and poster presentations. At left, Cherie Correa and Amber Gallagher of California State University, East Bay. Veronica Sandoval and Kong Vang, right photo, of California State University, Fresno, show their posters.

Students were not the only attendees. Here are other photos from this historic convention.

Do you think those convention bags stuff themselves? CASP President Doug Siembieda helps out with the bag stuffing (left). CASP Convention Registration Booths (above).

Former CASP Presidents Pauline Theodore, Barbara Thomas, Stephen Brock and Rose DuMond enjoyed each other’s company at the Presidential and Awards Luncheon.

Shirley Morano (with Executive Director Suzanne Fisher) may be retired, but not when it comes to volunteering at CASP Conventions.

Everything you’ve always wanted to know about CASP, but was afraid to ask, was available at the History Booth. The booth, designed by CASP Historian Glenn Schumacher, highlighted the 60 years of CASP conventions.

Decisions, decisions. Sandra Gomez, left, a member of the Convention Committee decides on whether to bid at the Auction and Wine and Beer Tasting to benefit the CASP PAC.
