School Psychologists and Response to Intervention
The California Association of School Psychologists Board of Directors, as part of its ongoing mission to provide professional development services to its members, has developed a paper outlining the essential knowledge and skills that school psychologists will need in order to actively participate in the Response-to-Intervention model (RTI) as included in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (or IDEA 2004). This paper will serve to guide future professional development activities for the association in regard to RTI models. The purpose of the paper is primarily to consider professional development needs for school psychologists, not to provide a thorough review of RTI models.
