Test Results Provide Evidence of Crisis Training’s Effectiveness

The success of the piloted CATS School Crisis Interventions training and the 5-Year Plan for implementation of the program were reported to the CASP Board of Directors in August.

A Brief History

In 2000/2001, the Board voted to follow the successful launching of the CATS Behavioral Interventions program with School Crisis Interventions. Unlike the behavioral area where standards of practice have been established, no such standards existed for school crisis intervention. To respond to the challenge of providing an evidence-based training program, the CASP Crisis Specialty Group established the CATS Crisis Intervention Steering Committee. In 2001/2002, a complete review of the literature was undertaken, training standards were established, and a school crisis research CD was conceptualized.
