AB 722 Study Group Finds Pupil Personnel Ratios High

The first comprehensive study to look at the status of pupil services in California found that the state has significantly higher pupil support personnel ratios than what school district personnel consider adequate. And, California continues to have the highest ratios in the nation of students to school social workers, school nurses and school counselors.

Those were among the findings of the Study of Pupil Personnel Ratios, Services and Programs, recently released by the Counseling and Student Support Office of the state Department of Education. The study was initiated by Assembly Bill 722 (Corbett, Statutes of 2001)
